Office Of Sustainability
Iqra University has strengthened its commitment to sustainability by developing a dedicated Office of Sustainability creating an institutional platform for productive engagement with local, regional, and worldwide partners on sustainability initiatives. In order to produce indigenous solutions through interdisciplinary research and innovation to solve the upcoming problems faced in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the office seeks to establish cross-sectoral national and international relationships. The office would also be in charge of measuring carbon footprints, reducing climate change, and creating a cross-sector Environment Strategy and SDG Framework to fulfill University’s commitment towards sustainability.
- Become the focal point for activities and information connected to sustainability.
- Encourage cooperation between individuals, groups, and resources.
- Launch initiatives to incorporate sustainability into the university’s programs and practices.
- Disseminate information on sustainability to the campuses and the local community.
- Inform others on sustainable knowledge, developments, and initiatives.
- Encourage and oversee the Office of Sustainability.
- Further initiatives to fulfill the sustainability objectives and goals of the university’s sustainability strategic plan.
- Prepare campus departments to think about and carry out their individual sustainability contributions.
- Measurement, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of campus sustainability initiatives
- Integrate sustainability into IU’s traditions and culture.

Our research stands as the most impactful in Pakistan, as per QS Asia Ranking, we stand as No.1 University for “Citation per Paper”, attaining rankings of Top 20 Universities in Pakistan and Top 350 Universities of Asia in 2023.
This initiative not only tells the stories of our success but the enduring efforts to enhance our teaching, research and operations for our students and communities. Our work doesn’t stop at being top ranked but we are dedicatedly working towards advancing our students’ attributes to enable them to impact the world outside university, alongside prioritizing practical, impact based research that goes beyond distinct fields to produce cooperative researches on equity, climate justice, sustainable financing and adopted measures to achieve carbon neutrality. We are enabling young minds to drive solution that accelerate attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the initiative of Centre of Research and Entrepreneurship (CORE), we have already incubated the 1st Cohort of 40 SDG inclined, aspiring ideas led by team of students, selected after a rigorous evaluation process, heading towards becoming a truly SDG-engaged University.

At Iqra University, our commitment to sustainability and accelerating social development in Pakistan is deeply ingrained in every aspect of our institution. To ensure that this commitment permeates throughout our organization, we have established a robust sustainability committee comprising senior leadership from all departments. The committee reflects a top-bottom approach which ensures that sustainability is not only supported at the highest levels but embedded across the organization as a whole, fostering a culture of collective responsibility and action.
Our esteemed committee members, proactive engagement and alignment of our curriculum, teachings, research endeavors, and student-led projects with the university’s overarching vision demonstrate a commendable commitment to our sustainability goals.
Together, we strive towards building a better, more sustainable, and equitable future for Pakistan, leveraging the expertise and collective efforts of our diverse committee members and leadership. By integrating sustainability principles into every aspect of our operations, we aim to create lasting positive impacts on our community and beyond.
